Rabbi Denise L. Eger is is the founding spiritual leader at Congregation Kol Ami. Rabbi Eger holds a B.A. in Religion from the University of Southern California. She received her Masters Degree from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion and was ordained at the New York campus in 1988. She received her Doctor of Divinity from Hebrew Union College in 2013. She has worked in congregations with people of all ages, families and individuals. She is the editor of the groundbreaking book, Mishkan Ga'avah: Where Pride Dwells A Celebration of LGBTQ Jewish Life and Ritual and Gender & Religious Leadership: Women Rabbis, Pastors and Ministers. She is a Past President of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. She is the founder and principle of ReZilience Strategies. A Consulting and Coaching organization specializing is clergy and nonprofit executives. Following extensive coaching studies and certifications with Coaching4Clergy and Coaching4Leadership Rabbi Eger has been working with clients to help them achieve their goals. Rabbi Eger is a noted author. Her groundbreaking new book Mishkan Ga'avah: Where Pride Dwells A Celebration of LGBTQ Jewish Life and Ritual (CCARPRESS, 2020) has recently been published to 5 star reviews. In November of 2019 Rabbi Eger's first book was published Gender and Religious Leadership Women Rabbis Pastors and Minsters by Rowman & Littlefield Press. She is a Sr. Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute. She has served on numerous Rabbinic boards and organizations. Rabbi Eger has published extensively on human sexuality, interfaith dialogue and human rights and has appeared on television and radio as an expert in these areas. An accomplished educator, and a dedicated spiritual and community leader, Rabbi Eger has been at the forefront of building new and more accessible Jewish communities. Rabbi Eger previously served as the president of the Pacific Association of Reform Rabbis and was the first female president of the Southern California Board of Rabbis.
